Academic
Developments
|
As recognition of the Arts
Therapies grows in Romania, we have continued to prioritise the Academic
Development needed to support this. However this is a difficult
area to navigate around! We are always interested to hear from
organisations and individuals involved in the development of related
training opportunities, both at a Vocational level and at a Graduate
and/or Post-Graduate level, to gain insight into what role Music as
Therapy might be able to play in the future development of music
therapy in Romania. Please send
us an
e-mail if you think
your work could be relevant (or ours to you!). |

Meanwhile, our provenance is
endorsed by the work we have been doing with
Greenwich Teaching Primary Care Trust Music Therapy Service and
Greenwich University. |

Over the
past two years we have been working together to devise an
accredited training course targeting people working with Under 5's who
are keen to use interactive music-making as a way to address
developmental needs of children in their care. This is a very new
initiative and we'd be interested to hear from anyone who has been
involved in anything similar or who is keen to see training such as this
more widely available. It is hoped that our course will pilot in
September 200. For more information or to share news of other
similar initiatives, please do send us an
email. |

CPD Series:
Working as an
international Music Therapist: Cross-Cultural Concerns |
The
Music as Therapy Advisory Panel place importance on feeding our experience back into the UK Music Therapy
profession. This year we followed up last year's Continuing Professional Development
Seminars ("New Ways of Serving Communities at Home and Abroad")
with a one-day event: "Working
as an international Music Therapist: Cross-Cultural Concerns".
The course
was conceived
to support the growing number of music therapists who have sought
consultancy from Music as Therapy on projects being undertaken
overseas and was attended by 28 therapists with experience of working in
a number of international contexts. Click
